The Passkeys Mission
PASSKEYS FOUNDATION
Building A Nation Of Character
Passkeys Foundation is a 501(c)(3);509(a)(1) publicly supported, non-profit organization founded in 1979 by Russell Williams with a mission of presenting character education programs and publications to serve children, youth, adults and the professional community through innovative character education programming collaborations engaging K-12 schools, Southern California universities, and the business and professional community.
The foundation’s vision of building a nation of character is shaped by the seven Passkeys life values. Those life values are: personal responsibility, positive self-worth, purpose, plan, paying the price, partnership and persistence.
Since 1996, under Mr. Williams’ full-time leadership, Passkeys Foundation has developed innovative programs for children, youth, and adults and the business community. The programs include: the Ethics In America program honoring ethical excellence in American society; the Kids of Character grants for K-6 children and schools; the Orange County Middle Schools Laws of Life Essay Contest; The Champions of Character Coaches Academy in collaboration with Vanguard University of Southern California; the Orange County Christian Mentoring Alliance Pilot Project, a collaborative mentoring program involving the OC Christian faith community, OC Social Services and Juvenile Courts, the YMCA, Big Brothers, Big Sisters.
Since 2000, Mr. Williams has written more than 400 weekly concise character education essays that have appeared in two community newspapers in California and Massachusetts. Additionally, the weekly essay is emailed nationally to approximately 1000 educators, community leaders, parents and coaches.
The newly published KIDS OF CHARACTER One Minute Mentoring Messages is a collection of eighty-nine essays organized around the seven Passkeys life values.
In 1999, the foundation acquired the Jefferson Center for Character Education, a non-profit organization founded in 1967. The Center was the pioneering organization in America in developing character education curricula with its STAR Responsibility Skills programs for elementary and middle schools. Over 6,000,000 children in 6000 classrooms nationally have experienced the STAR curricula based upon Stop, Think, Act and Review.
Passkeys is a member of the national CHARACTER COUNTS!sm Coalition and the Character Education Partnership.
